Wavelet transform makes the power of edge signal centralize in few wavelet transform coefficients, those coefficients values are much greater than the ones of noise whose power is scattered on many wavelet coefficients, wavelet coefficients are under the process of threshold value, and noise with low amplitude and unexpected signal can be reduced within the domain of wavelet transform. The selection of threshold value is vital, if the value is too small, the noise will be filtered incompletely and edge or fake edge will be introduced; if the value is too big, expected local edge signal will deleted, so the edge information will be lost so that detection effect will be influenced.

Although it is an interesting and challenging problem to classify all finite dimensional filtering, it appears that from Yau’s previous works, finite dimensional filtering simply does not exist for many practical situations.
